A very lightweight castable (approximately 50 pounds per cubic foot). It provides an excellent insulation as back-up material between a more refractory hot face lining and the furnace shell. It has good strength and its light, porous structure makes it an excellent material for hot face use where temperatures of 1800⁰F are not exceeded.

Able Insulcast 16

Hydraulic setting insulating castable for use up to 1600⁰E Its outstanding feature is its very low thermal conductivity. It provides excellent insulation as a back-up material for refractory brick or dense castables.
